AMSTĀ 205: Chicago: Social Change in the Urban U.S.

Based in Chicago, this course gives students the opportunity to study and experience the history and contemporary landscape of social change movements in one of the most significant U.S. urban settings. The city has spawned a range of social and political movements, from labor, to community organizing, to civil rights. Contemporary social change initiatives include immigrant rights groups, ethnic and racial cultural and political organizations, workers' centers, and school reform organizations. Counts toward the American Studies major. Offered periodically.
